Applying the Lean Risk Wall of Fame

Workshop Lean Risk Wall-of-Fame Risk is a very important concept in testing. However, despite all the attention given to it in books, trainings, and the like, it remains a rather abstract concept for most of us. Applying a Risk-based test approach is often proposed in test plans and/or test strategy documents but such an approach is often limited to identifying risks and determining which parts or components need the most thorough test approach. Mitigating these risks, and especially showing some ‘proof’ of this mitigation turns out to be a more difficult exercise.

The Lean Risk Wall-of-Fame is a method to keep track of Risk Management activities in a lean and understandable way. It visualizes both risk level and  mitigation activities in time. In this workshop we will go through all the phases of the Risk Management process to identify, assess, and control risks and use the Risk Wall-of-Fame to visualize status and progress. During the workshop we will identify risks for projects the attendees are working on or for one of the sample projects provided and continue with those risks for the subsequent phases to assess and prioritize and design test cases to mitigate them. And when doing so, we gradually build our own Lean Risk Wall-of-Fame.

At the end of the workshop the attendees will be able to introduce Risk Management and Risk-based Testing in their own organization and/or project, moderate the various activities and build and maintain the Risk Wall of Fame. And most important, be able to describe Risks and design Test Cases to mitigate those Risk.
