Testing Art of War

Sun Tzu in his famous 'Art of War’ advises: ’A military force has no constant formation, water has no constant shape. The ability to gain victory by changing and adapting according to the opponent is called genius.’ This principle can be applied in software testing, where we need to adapt and respond to varying scenarios and challenges. Just as water covers and fills every gap it encounters, testers must oversee every aspect of SDLC, from understanding nuanced business requirements to possessing a deep technical system knowledge. Apart from Sun Tzu references I’d like to analyse how other popular military concepts apply to testing: – OODA Loop (Boyd) – Blitzkrieg (Boyd/Liddell Hart) – Fingerspitzengefühl (Boyd) – Battlefield innovation (Drones in modern warfare) – Fog of War (Clausewitz) – Tactics vs Strategy I hope that the importance of this concepts will encourage listeners to think about their T-shaped skills and employability.
